Dr. Jorge Gavilano
Miembro de la Red Internacional de Ciencia y Tecnología
Experto Nuclear, residente en Suiza
Laboratorio de Física del Estado Sólido, ETH Hönggerberg
Zurich, Suiza
Born in 1952 in Peru. Jorge Gavilano attended the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences of Columbia University in New York, U.S.A. In 1985 he received his Ph.D. in Physics from the same institution with a thesis on the study of the symmetries of the weak interactions. From 1985 to 1987 he was in charge of the ultra low-temperature facility in the Materials research laboratory of the university of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois U.S.A. and from 1988 to 1989 he was a postdoctoral researcher in the Physics Institute of the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. In 1989 he joined the ETH-Zurich. During his career Jorge Gavilano has worked on different areas of condensed matter physics and has used a variety of experimental methods. His research interest is presently centered on the study of strong correlations in electronic systems using nuclear magnetic resonance techniques.
